Bio of Rob Saxe, PGA
Rob has been passionate about golf since about the time he could walk. At age 5, he got his first set of golf clubs, a starter set with little red grips, which was the greatest gift he’d ever received. Through the years, his mother taught him to swing and play. He still has a passion for women’s golf and is a huge fan of the LPGA.
After 8 years serving his country as a US Army Aviator, he got into the golf business at Corral de Tierra Country Club outside of Salinas, CA, near the Monterey Peninsula. At every facility he worked at, the range tee always called out to him. He has been an assistant, first assistant, teaching professional, head professional, and general manager. He realized that helping others enjoy the
game more was always important to him, but working behind a desk wasn’t the way for him to do it.
While at Corral, Rob was introduced to Ben Doyle, PGA, G.S.E.D., who introduced him to a book called “The Golfing Machine.” That started a 30-year journey to understand the book and its
concepts. Within those pages lies the answer to every golf swing question.
The Golfing Machine explains the swing based on the laws of geometry and physics rather than someone’s “theory” or method of playing and trying to fit everyone into that method. It taught Rob that everyone has their own swing, and while there is one ideal swing, there are literally millions of variations to get to the same end. Learning the system also meant translating it into digestible bits without the confusing golf jargon many use to describe the swing. The basis of the book is turning proper mechanics into feel and trusting your feel to produce precision golf shots.
Rob has completed Levels 1 and 2 of the G.S.E.B. syllabus and is in the process of completing the requirements for the G.S.E.M. certification. (Golf Stroke Engineer Master)
Rob has many, many teaching influences and an enormous library of instruction books dating back
to the 1920s. His teaching approach revolves around the following method:
#1 Finding the root cause of the swing issue and providing the corrective movement.
#2 Defining the correction into easy-to-understand terms.
#3 Helping the student to translate that into a lasting swing change and
#4 Provide simple practice drills to turn the mechanics of the new move into a feel.
#5 And above all, make it fun!
Every lesson begins where the last lesson ended, and we don’t move forward until the changes are understood and made.
Rob teaches all levels of players and is excited to make Roseville Golf his professional home.
